Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Garden
The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens is the oldest park in the territory.  Built in 1860 and partially opened in 1864, the Gardens was fully completed and opened to the public in 1871, with Mr Charles Ford appointed as its first Superintendent in the same year.  Used to house an assemblage of native plants for collection and research in its early years, it had been known as the Botanic Gardens.  Since 1876, the Gardens has been building its zoological collection comprising birds and mammals.  In 1975, it was officially renamed as the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens.  The Gardens is also nicknamed by locals as “Bing Tau Fa Yuen” (“Bing Tau” means the head of soldiers and “Fa Yuen” means garden) because it was the site of the Government House from 1841 to 1842 and at some time in the past, the Governor also served as the Commander of British Forces in Hong Kong.

The Gardens, with an area of 5.6 hectares, is surrounded by Garden Road, Robinson Road, Glenealy and Upper Albert Road, and divided into the eastern and western parts by Albany Road.  The two parts are connected by a pedestrian subway.  The eastern part, known as the Old Garden, provides children’s playground, aviaries, a green house and the fountain terrace garden, whereas the western part, or the New Garden, is mainly home to mammals and reptiles.

On top of the zoological and botanical attractions, visitors may also enjoy a stroll down the heritage trail to explore five special features of historical importance, namely the Stone Pillars, the Memorial Arch, the Bronze Statue of King George VI, the Pavilion and the Fountain, and savour the stories of the Gardens.

Hiking at Lamma Island with Seafood lunch
Guests will be met by our English speaking guide at the hotel lobby for their transfer to Lamma Island.

From a traditional Chinese fishing village to a laid-back multicultural community, Lamma’s blend of Western and Chinese island life creates an atmosphere that has proved irresistible for Hong Kong’s busy residents. Lamma Island’s roots are tied to the sea as well as its people. Although the fishing industry is no longer as prominent as it once was before, the Lamma Fisherfolk’s Village gives you a chance to experience how people in the village have lived before when the fishing industry is still thriving.

Also, explore rustic villages and pleasant coastal sceneries as you walk along the island. There are 3 different villages in Lamma Island that one can explore:
  • Yung Shue Wan located in the north and is the main town where most of the island's population lives. This village is connected to the central piers.
  • Sok Kwu Wan is located in the south and is basically a street lined with large seafood restaurants. It is connected by ferry to Aberdeen and the Central Piers.
  • Mo Tat Wan is a tiny village to the east with a few houses and a couple of restaurants. The ferry between Aberdeen and Sok Kwu Wan actually stops here, so after eating a large lunch you can stroll over here before catching the ferry back.
Proposed Itinerary:

0900    Pick up from Hotel to Pier (suggest Causeway Bay, if not, Pier No. 9)
0920    Arrive Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter
0930    Sail from Causeway Bay to Lamma Island Sok Kwu Wan
1115    Arrive Sok Kwu Wan and visit to Tin Hau Temple
1145    Welcome Seafood Lunch at Sok Kwu Wan
1315    Hiking starts from Sok Kwu Wan to Yung Shue Wan

Walk then takes us through near-abandoned villages with their banana plantations and past beautiful old feng shui woods, followed by a lovely paved coastal path onthis peaceful, traffic –free island. As we walk, we are often escorted by beautiful butterflies, then afterwards climb a hilldie for majestic views over the shipping lanes of the South China Sea, neighboring islands Cheung Chau, Lantau and the unspoilt south. We also walk past many of Lamma’s famous boulders, which make great backdrops for photos.

We take a scenic walk past World War II Kamikaze tunnels and a delightful sandy bay to the bustling village of Yung Shue Wan, where we stroll down the narrow streets of tightly packed local shops, absorbing the relaxed atmosphere. As the southern end of Lamma is a recognised breeding site for the endangered green sea turtle, which comes to shore between June and October to lay eggs. This beach is closed during this period.

1515   Reaching the old pier, for the cruise back to the hustle and bustle of the Central, Hong Kong Island.
1600   Return to Central Pier
